It's our volunteers who will make the difference...
"As one person you cannot change the world,
but you can change the world of one athlete"
In August 2017 Special Olympics GB will stage the tenth National Summer Games since the organisation was founded in 1978. The Games will be the largest multi-sports event in 2017 for young people and adults with an intellectual disability.
We are delighted and very excited to be returning to Sheffield, which is the second City be host the Games for a second time.
We know that booking accommodation is always the first priority for travelling volunteers. Building on our experience from 2013, we have established a partnership with Marketing Sheffield who will be able to signpost you to the huge range of accommodation that the city of Sheffield has to offer at a special volunteers discounted price - click here for booking information!
We need to recruit 750 Volunteers to fulfil a broad range of roles both on and off the field of play who will be integral to the success, enjoyment and smooth running of this unqiue multi-sport event. We are committed to recruiting a diverse and vibrant team of Volunteers who reflect the communities in which we live and will bring together a range of skills, knowledge and experience – each individual making their own special contribution to the Games.
All volunteers will be required to complete all parts of the games online registration process in full, on or before the closing date (30 April 2017), before being assigned to a role. Should you have difficulty completing the form, please first visit FAQ Page.
If you feel that you can meet the requirements and fulfil the commitment as outlined above and would like to register to become a 2017 Games Volunteer – please now visit the online registration page. We look forward to receiving your registration. THANK YOU!
